The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested popular Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over alleged mutilation of the naira.
The arrest was carried out by the Kano Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following a viral video in which the actress was seen using naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose.
According to the EFCC, investigations began after the video circulated on social media. Operatives subsequently traced Inuwa and arrested her for questioning.
She is currently being held at the EFCC detention facility in Kano, while investigations continue. The Commission said she will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
Inuwa has previously faced sanctions from authorities in Kano State.
In January 2025, the Kano State Censorship Board suspended her for one year over alleged inappropriate dressing and the use of offensive language in some of her videos.
In a statement issued at the time by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sulaiman, the board said the actress ignored several warnings before the suspension was imposed.
The board also revoked her licence and suspended the censorship of films featuring her, stating that it was enforcing compliance with the state’s religious, cultural, and moral standards.
